NJ Columbia Lake
Marker Description: Columbia Lake is a good place for a single put in for kayakers. Of course there is no action for white water but it is good for cruising. There are several parking areas where a kayak can be put into the lake as a NJDF&W road circles most of the lake. The largest put in location is near the Route 80 bridges.

Once in the Lake it is a nice paddle up to the next bridge and then up to a beautiful stone arched bridge. At this point upstream the green of the lake gives way to clearer water and a bit of a current starts. It is s nice paddle up another mile or so before it becomes a real struggle with the current. From the stone bridge up it is more of the Paulinskill in a slow run than Columbia Lake. Also the roar of Route 80 goes away. There are some nice over hanging trees and it is quite pleasant but short of beautiful.

All, in all a nice paddle but nothing great. The one good thing is that you have a bit of a work out and then a slow drift back to your car if your in for a relaxing day.

Paddled up and past all three bridges and drifted back down. Fished and caught one rock bass.
