Killed a nice doe on opening day of fall bow. Hiked in along the ridge and set up my stand. Had a doe come almost directly under my stand but was under a branch and could not get a shot and the doe smelled my rope used to haul up my bow, I should not have dropped the line back down. Then a good five minutes of snorting and stomping right under my stand. I though she would continue or back out where I could get a shot but she bolted without a shot opportunity. I thought that was going to be it and got out of the stand to see if I could head her off but as soon as I got on the ground she smelled me and gave another snort so I got back into my stand.

I waited for another hour or so before I started breaking off a few branches to try and get some better angles. I drifted off thinking about nothing for a while and then I caught sight of a doe very close to my stand that appeared to materialize - I heard nothing. THe de came into my shooring lane very quickly and was moving slow but deliberately. I sighted her and pulled the trigger only to realize the safety was on on my crossbow. I flipped the safety and the deer was behind some branches and brush with a bigger beautifully light tan coated doe on her heels and I sighted and let the arrow fly. No sign of a stumble both deeer ran away and I heard some crashing in the woods, which is always a good sign and then watched as only one deer broke through a clearing in my line of sight. I climbed down and found my arrow intact but bloody. The trail was a bit sparse but there was some good globs on plants. I was worried becasue the blood was up very high on the brush. Tracked for about thirty yards and the nice doe was under some brush dead - shot went right through the lungs - a little high. Will put up my pics. Now onto the buck!
