NJ S Branch Raritan, High Bridge
Marker Description: High Bridge, NJ offers excellent trout fishing along the South Branch of the Raritan River. From the falls at Lake Solitude (pictured here) downstream to Route 31 offers features similar to the Ken Lockwood Gorge which is located only a mile or so upstream from this excellent fishing spot.

The Lake Solitude dam was listed as one of New Jersey's 10 most-endangered historic sites in 2008 by Preservation New Jersey. Built in 1909 to provide hydroelectric power for the Taylor-Wharton and Steel Co., High Bridge's dam is the last-known remaining example of an I-beam dam in the state.

You got that right! I think the one I was using was about a size 8 or 10. I got the first rainbow on that and the other 3 were hooked on the caddis pupa I tied like the one here minus the ribs.

Zrishel sounds like you had a nice day out. Wasn't sure what a zug bug looks like. Found this pic, looks like a tasty bugger.

I hit this spot around 8:00 this morning and fished until noon. I used a green/black bead head caddis pupa under a zug bug. I landed 2 rainbows and a nice brown and hooked another, but it got off.

Fished High Bridge today. A slow start with 2 fish in first hour, then it broke wide open. Ended up with 20 trout, a mixture of Rainbows, Browns and Brookies. Caught a 21" Rainbow. A Huge, fat one. Was going to upload picture, but it will not let me. Guess I have too many on this marker. I would delete a few of the older ones if I could.

Denis: nice rainbow, what did you get it on - A Jersey Joe? You are catching a lot of big time trout, I just had a 30 inch plus rainbow on today on the Beaver Brook, lost it, check the sitemap Beaver Brook, Pond Hole. Thanks for posting the pic of the bow. After we talked to you, my Dad hit up High Bridge and caught a few small ones, no breeders. Talk to you soon.
