NV Red Rock Canyon, Oak Creek
Marker Description: ACCESS FROM W. CHARLESTON BLVD: The diverse trails (up and back) of Red Rock Canyon offers plenty to do including watching/taking part in climbing; near Blue Diamond, NV; 2.7 miles/1.5 hours round trip; elevation gain of 420 ft

Summary: The most simple way to reach Oak Creek is via the paved scenic loop road, which takes you down a gravel road to a parking area and trailhead. It costs $7 per car to get access to the paved loop. This is a nice place to begin if you want to explore the upper canyon, or as part of Knoll, Arnight, or long hikes to 1st Creek, Pine Creek, or Icebox. The lower canyon (between the parking lot and SR 159 - Charleston Blvd.) is one of the largest and most lush vegetation of any of the washes in Red Rock. Autumn colors are brilliant with ash, aspens, and willows and the purple of the western redbud.

Trailhead: Enter the canyon at the fee station & take the scenic loop to the very last parking lot - Oak Creek, Arnight and Knoll trails. Follow the signs leading into Oak Creek canyon or just follow the many rock climbers who climb the north wall of the canyon on Rainbow Mountain. The main trail from this parking area takes you west, along the north rim of the creek. Lat:36.11002 Lon:-115.46825;

Great hike if you like scrambling on boulders. Not many hikers on this trail.
