NJ Island Beach State Park Jetty
Marker Description: Area between the north jetty and the beach traps baitfish. stripers, bluefish and flounder all there all year, fall the best...try small white gulp in the wash all summer...even at noon, slow retrieve, small triangle weight split off the line with the gulp trailing...let the flounder have it for about 30 seconds...fun!

Fished yesterday off the jetty towards the pocket. Many fishermen were catching small bluefish on diamond jiggs and hopkins. I caught 6 and my cousin and Dad each caught about the same number.

There were a lot of needle fish cruising along the pocket side of the jetty as well as a lot of small baitfish. One blue that I caught tossed up a bunch of small needlefish when I was unhooking him.

Great fights and a beautiful day. The stripers should be in soon!

Fished there on a Sunday in July, and the fluke were stacked up like shingles on the bottom in the inlet. I was hooked up every other cast on Gulp, and everyone around me was catching like crazy on bucktails and other lures. I landed about a dozen, nothing big, but on light tackle it is a lot of fun.
