NJ Spruce Run, tailrace
Marker Description: Spruce Run tail race is posted as no fishing but you can get access by canoe or kayak from the lake or by parking in the municipal lot and walking through a cut in the fence in right center of the baseball field.

It looks to be a good bass and possible trout area. The water runs at a pretty good clip and is rather deep. For the most part there is little structure though. I caught nothing and the water was greenish murky.

The bank is very steep on the municipal side and the dam side is heavily overgrown.

Fished on 9.11.10 and saw some large carp but had no luck fishing with lures. I did not stay long, really just scouting it out. The water was green and murky in September. I think there may be some good trout in this small run from the dam to the lake, especially at the discharge point. I will head back another day and see if it is any good now that I know where to park and where to cut through the fence at the ball field - right center and walk along the high trail towards the dam discharge. Should be good but who knows.
