NJ Pequest River, Furnace Road
Marker Description: This is a well stocked stretch of the Pequest River just below the trout conservation area. There is mowed grass along this section which makes for eay access without waders. There are some nice deep pools and then a long deep run - one of the few slower deep runs on the Pequest.

Fished the 5:00 Friday countdown with my Dad without much luck. I caught one small brookie on a brown size 20 parachute midge. Saw one other fisherman catch a little brookie on bait. The Pequest was low and clear and didn't spot many fish. It seemed like they didn't stock or only put a few fish in. The cars were lined up from the bottom end of the TCA around the bend to the dam. Not much action all around. Lots of metal tossed about as well as bait and very quiet. Maybe the Division is worried about stocking a bunch of fish and having a fish kill b/c the water is so low but that is some conspiracy theory stuff, probably just not hitting.
