NJ Peapack Brook, Gladstone
Marker Description: Peapack Brook is a native trout stream ( I think I saw natives), also a lot of stocked trout in both spring and fall. This is a beautiful stream but small. Great water quality. Nice gravel bottom and a very alive stream, minnows, suckers, ect.

Park in the Gladstone tavern lot.

Had to meet a friend for dinner at the Peapack Gladstone Tavern, food was pretty tasty, had the roast chicken and pancake barbecue app, good stuff. Anyway, when I walked up to the bridge I spooked a bunch of trout, at least four bigger stockers and as many natives (could have been chubs). Anyway, there always seems to be trout in this spot. The brook was relatively high and looked very fishy. Took a few casts but the fish were good and scattered, stealth required or early morning action or murk after rain.

I caught one small rainbow on a white winged brownish bodied fly. It is one of those jobs where the white wings lay on the surface outstretched. I don't know what it is called. I saw a few other trout but as soon as I dropped this fly on the water a stocky came up and hit it and splashed up the scene and scared off the other trout. I hauled it up from the cement bank of the bridge and then released the little guy. See attached photos.
