PA Martins Creek, Stone Curve
Marker Description: Martins Creek along Main Street is a good trout stretch. There are two parking areas on either side of Main Street after the sharp curve. As you can see in the background of the main photo there is a nice pool that runs along the stone wall supporting the curve in the road. This entire area is well stocked.

Drove by and fishermen where stacked up at Stone Curve. Some spots look too good and when they are right by the road....

Went back with my Dad and he caught two small "silver" rainbows. Are these fish atlantic salmon? Check my photo from my pervious post. I plan to go back and get a better photo. We didn't get a picture last time out. Is this just a weird looking rainbow or is it something else altogether? Post me fool.

I was heading up to fish Cherry Creek and saw a nice pull off and decided to check it out. I started with a spinner to see if I could get a follow or strike. I didn't even put on my waders and walked along the shoulder of the road. I immediately saw a number of trout. They didn't want anything to do with the spinner. I switched to a trout magnet and I got a number of circles and darts toward but no takers.

I also spotted a nice twenty plus inch rainbow. I threw the magnet to the big one with no luck. I switched to different colors of magnet and I got a circle from the big one but no action.

Then I went back to the car to get my fly rod. I tried a stone fly, a pheasant tail and rs2 with no luck. Then I put on a small green puppa imitation and caught three small very silver rainbows. Switched to a few types of dries with no luck.

Then, I started throwing all sorts of different nymphs/midges at the big guy with no luck. I decided to try the trout magnet one more time before leaving. I chose a black head with gold body, which I tied on the bottom of the puppa with a midge dropper; so this was a dropper on a dropper - real lazy. First drift past the big guy, he takes it and I pull the line like I'm ripping a coffin out of the ground and snapped the line where it was tied to the leader, the rainbow spit it after my line was laying in the water. arrhhhgg... It was very cool to get the strike after so much work but I almost just went home b/c once you have a big trout like that in your sights all of a sudden all the little ones seem to lose meaning. Also, I just went nuts when he struck and ripped so clownish.

Anyway, I thought I'd go back for him on the way home but I never did because I caught a way bigger rainbow on the Cherry and headed home another way. He's still sitting there and seems to be unspookable.
