Marker Description: The Cherry Creek at Kemmertown Road/State Route 2003 is ice cold water with heavy beaver activity. Just above the bridge a beaver dam (summer of 2012) exposes numerous large trout some over 17 inches. These fish are very wary. I tried to fish above the dam and the overgrowth on the rekk was so heavy I turned back after less than 100 yards. Trout skiddered for cover as I tried to maul through the briars and heavy brush crowding the stream and growing across it entirely due to the many side cuts and islands created by beaver activity. I might try this section in winter or late fall or early spring but it is just too much to deal with in the summer. Despite the shallows created by the beavers the water was still ice cold in August.
