NJ Pequest River, Upper, Pequest Road
Marker Description: The upper Pequest River is not well known or mentioned often on the web. The Pequest above Rte 80 is often called Pequest Creek. Despite the creek moniker, there is good flow in this location and the water looks good. The dam at this marker looks to like it should hold trout year round. If you look at Google Earth this area often appears swampy on the banks. Downstream from this mareker there is a swampy shoreline and even a pond on the railroad side of the Pequest. Although there is a trout stocked water sign on one side of the bridge where there is a parking pull off for about two cars parallel to the road there are also posted signs on both sides of the bridge. So it is one of those trespass to fish locations.

Fished in February and caught nothing with no strikes. I was surprised how good the water looked but I did not go upstream from the marker due to the trespassing signage. I walked downstream about a 1/4 mile to the swamp and the water looked good but the stone botom turned to muck and I turned back with no action.
