NJ Pequest & Beaver Brook Junction
Marker Description: The Pequest and Beaver Brook Junction pool is more of riffle run than a deep good pool. This spot is a heavy stocking location. The NJDF&G also stocks above at the top bridge on the Beaver Brook during stocking days. The trout seem to hang at the tail of the riffle after recent stockings. It seems like they like the Beaver Brook water when in mixes in fully.

Basically the junction does not create a good pool but rather more of a long riffle/run. The entire 200 yards from the junction down is excellent. Don't be fooled by the fools huddled at the Junction. Head down and catch fish.

Caught five small rainbows w/ mangled fins but all fought well with a few leapers; they hit on No. 1 gold Blue Fox, No. 2 Mepps & pink bodied gold headed Trout Magnets, 30 minutes fishing just below the junction.

Fished just below the junction on the opposite side of the river from Rte 46. The far bank is deeper and most people fish from the other bank. The fish tend to hold in the deeper water and span out in the hole lower section of this run down from the junction. I walked down from the "Honey Hole" bridge above and past the circled guys surrounding the mouth of the Beaver Brook and started catching fish immediately. I caught about ten, kept two little ones for the frying pan. First trout I've kept in a long time. Didn't taste that good though. Check my pics.

Fished w/ my buddy just above at the next bridge but another fisherman was working under the bridge, got in the car and headed down to the junction only to have the same fisherman trot ahead of us through the woods to fish the nice riffle just below. Gotta love a fellow ****face fisherman. Ah, to late to move, whatever.

Came back today, Sunday, and caught four rainbows in the riffle down from the junction. It is about three to four feet deep for a good 50 feet, that is quite a riffle for the Pequest. I also walked down to the bend where the Pequest runs into the mountain edge but there was not a deep hole there, just real fast riffle water. Down below there were some nice boulders but I didn't push on it the Pequest canyon. Some day, just didn't have the time today. Also there is a nice four wheeler trail on the left as your heading down stream. Might be good to hike down on the trail and fish back up.

I walked across 46 from the lot next to the Beaver Brook and headed upstream because there were a few fishermen camped at the junction. When I looked down they were landing quite a few but I was doing just as well upstream. Lots of fish in the water today for the Friday stocking. I caught seven and missed many more.
