Marker Description: Paulinskill River at Footbridge Park behind the diner and Delta gas station is a heavily stocked area by the NJDF&G. The fish hole up in the tail end of the pool behind the diner. The fishermen circle the the pool and crowds are frequent on stocking days and it is a favorite opening day spot.

Fished today behind the Delta gas station and diner (which looks to be out of business) and found multiple schools of thirty plus trout schooling along the banks. There was also a large school of trout in inches of water just above the foot bridge where the small creek comes under Rte 94.

I only caught one small brownie on a pink trout magnet but the fish were stressed from the 100 degree weather and high water temps (felt like bath water while wet wading) so I was really just there to watch them and didn't try to find the right fly.

It was very cool to see the trout schooling about first time I've seen this except in photos on the net.

Met a guy, Joe, who fishes this area often and he said that he pulled out some nice rainbows earlier this week on a Phoebe. Also met a fly fishermen that caught a good breeder a few days ago. Apparently, lots of big fish being caught. It seems like the fish that are being stocked in the private club below are running up to this area. Who knows, for whatever reason they are stacked behind the Delta gas station in schools.

Had some good photos of the trout on my underwater camera but I somehow lost it, hoping it is in my trunk but I did give one good search. Annoying. Took a few shots with my phone while searching for the camera.
