NJ Passaic River, Great Falls Park
Marker Description: The Passaic River under the Great Falls is hard to get to. You have to walk up from below. Big Pike and nice smallies, is the word.

Access via a bike trail @ the end of Maple Ave.………lots of litter, very “fishy” looking, saw an empty wire leader package. Nice looking wadable, riffles & runs for quite a distance downstream.

Locals, call it “The Chasm”.

This section is now part of the Great Falls National Historical Park. The falls are really spectacular.

I don't think there is anyway for someone to stop you because it is so hard to get down there. Not sure if they have one of those signs that says don't get without a 100 feet or some nonsense but that's the way it goes, I say do it and let us know how it goes. I think there will be quite a few stockers all staked up! Bring some small spinners and a few monster plugs painted in trout patters, ha!

Does anyone know whether you can launch a kayak from below the falls? That pool will likely be stacked with all those lower section of the Passaic trout they will be stocking this year. For the trout that run up, there should be some schools, holy pike feast!

I fished way above the falls at the fishing marker for Passaic River, Rte 46, Little Falls, ha no realluck to speak of and no northern pike which is what we were fishing for - I was with my father and we fished from our kayaks.

First time I have seen the falls. We will come back to fish under the falls. It is really an awesome spot. I would like to find a spot below and kayak up under the falls. Might be cool to try and climb the falls as well but maybe the rocks will be super slippery. Anyway, check back, I'll at least find out how the fishing is under the falls.
