Had some work to do in Mount Olive, so I decided to stick around for Friday stocking on the Muskie. My uncle and cousin came up to join me, as well. We started at the Waterloo Valley bridge, only one other guy fishing there. Saw him catch three on live shiners. I managed one on the jig.

We moved to Saxton Falls which was, of course, mobbed. About 20 people casting into a hole no bigger than most people's garages. Jersey troutin' at it's finest. Moved to a hole downstream from the falls, my uncle immediately picks up a rainbow on a Mepps (pic below). He also landed a little smallie, and missed something big. We didn't get a good look at it. He admitted that he couldn't put much pressure on the fish because he was using 2 lb. test. (Steve! Learn from the mistakes of others!) I managed two small rainbows, two little smallies, and a sunfish. My cousin got shut out on spinning gear and the fly rod.

With about a half hour of good daylight left, we decided to swing by Stevens State Park. Lots of fish rising. My uncle got two rainbows, I got one, all small. Cousin got shut out again. Out of the parking lot a little after 8:00.

There was a monster hatch going on, and fish were rising everywhere. Appeared to be several different types of bugs, including skeeters; first time I've had to break out the bug dope this year. River looked awesome. Water was crystal clear, and it was at just the right level. If I didn't live so far away, I'd hit the Muskie a lot more this year.

Fished lunker hole with my Dad and cousin, who caught one and two trout respectively. They also each caught a few small mouth bass. My cousin even caught a good ole sunfish - he was fishing some light yellow to orange jigs. My Dad was throwing metal.

But the big excitement was a lunker that my Dad had on for a few minutes. He thinks it was a breeder trout but we didn't see it. As my cousin said, my Dad always catches lunker trout, but he didn't bring this one in.

I fished some white dries and an ant and some small bead heads - no strikes.
