PA Martins Creek Quarry Pond
Marker Description: The Martins Creek Quarry Lake behind Alpha Cement and in between Martins Creek and the Delaware is a picturesque place of solitude. There is a huge blasted cliff along one side of the lake and a smaller cliff around almost the whole lake. There is one portion that is level to the ground. The best fishing are is in this level area. The water is crystal clear.

There are large mouth bass, small mouth bass, catfish and carp.

Apparently, the lake is policed in the summer from June to August to try and prevent parties and swimming. Normally fishermen are not bothered outside of these time frames. Although there are no trespassing signs if you are outside of summer months it is okay to launch canoes and kayaks. This lake is a real place of beauty.

Parking: There is parking along the railroad tracks past Alpha Cement under the high tension wires.

I happened upon the lake today when I was fishing Martins Creek. I was amazed at the huge cliff, probably 200 feet high. I took a few casts with a spinner and caught some leaves. Then I just sat down and watched two hawks riding thermals and one of them let out this loud echoing screech.

I was amazed at how peaceful and beautiful it was. I had passed some no trespassing signs and thought it was a true hidden gem. Then I saw some kids pop up on the far side of the Lake.

I walked over and talked to them and they were fishing with bread for huge carp. They told me that if you can get a canoe out near the flat area, there are bass all over and they are very easy to catch. They told me that the police are only really worried about people swimming and jumping off the cliffs. But they said you can't go in the summer months because they really harass people during that time.
