This lake was once hallowed ground for b*** fishermen in the United States, being one of the few that has produced a 20+ pound largemouth. However, the introduction of striped b*** has resulted in the largemouth population being stunted. Largemouths now average in the 3-5 pound range, but a handful of 10+ pounders are still caught from the lake annually. Stripers, which have taken over as the apex predator of the lake, can grow in excess of 40 pounds. Both fish feed heavily on the rainbow trout that are stocked in the lake. Largemouths on the lake are heavily pressured, and anglers have had to resort to light line and finesse tactics like drop-shotting to fool these educated fish. Those unaccustomed to such techniques will have a hard time catching fish with any consistency. First time visitors should hire a guide to help decipher this puzzle of a lake. Predominant cover consists of rocky outcroppings along shore. Shad-colored crankbaits worked along these rocks in the morning can yield decent b***. Midday fishing is all about fishing deep with small soft plastics.
