Marker Description: The Gallatin in a medium size river - not really big water - but it has great flow and good deep pools where you can get a truly great fight from a big trout. Trout in the 16" range abound in the river. It runs clear in the late spring and summer and is a stone bottom winner all around. Big rainbows and browns.

I used to ride my bike to the Gallatin when I was a student at Montana State University and I would catch some nice trout on Mepps spinners. I also saw a crew filming a scene for a "River Runs Through It" on the Gallatin and the crew was using a wooden fish on a wheel that could be turned from the bank to mimic a trout rising for a fly.

This is an amazing trout river. Not much else to say but this is 5 star trout water.
