Marker Description: A 26.6 Mile tail race fishery with pulsing - the river rises and falls 10 feet close the the Center Hill Dam to fuel the generators with sufficient water two times a day. This is for the benefit of trout - allowing the proper flows. The stretch is full of trout and the rise and fall of the water adds a new dimension to the fishing - you have to cross when you can and pay attention.

Check the Tennessee Valley Authority for the daily generation schedule.

Browns less than 18" must be released. These fish are mainly hatchery trout because the releases flush away the eggs during spawning. Center Hill Lake is full of threadfin shad and at certain times they get flushed through the generators so a large white streamer sometimes yields good results.
