NJ Black River Hacklebarney Park
Marker Description: I fished this location back in mid October and really enjoyed it. I pull in a 10" and 14" rainbow and two 12" browns between 7am and 2pm on a Sunday. I really liked the terrain; rocky with several good pools and a very manageable flow and depth (for my hips waders).

Since I had never been here before, I parked at the Parks Management parking lot and hiked down past the creek until I got to the Black River. I local gentlemen who arrived at the same time I did gave me the 411 on how to get down to the river, a bit quicker than following the "tourist/hiking path". I really enjoyed myself all morning since no one else was in sight, but by late morning the hiking/sunday picnickers started to show up in hoards. Although they didn't interrupt my alone time too much, it was a bit odd having so many adults and kids ask me if I had caught anything.

Aside from the picnic/hiking crowds, the only other issue I had was the length of the public fishing in this section. I was able to fish the entire available length in the time I mentioned above.

Overall I really like the terrain and planned on going back again (which I eventually do - see my next posts)
