PA Big Spring Creek
Marker Description: Big Springs Creek runs from Big Spring to Newville. The Creek starts at an abandoned hatchery and flows through a fly fishing only section which changes to normal Pennsylvania trout regs near Newville. The Creek is mainly 10 feet wide and 2 to 3 feet deep and the bottom is light colored with plenty of vegetation.

Near the headwaters below the abandoned hatchery, there is a 100 foot stretch of protected water where fishing is prohibited. Below this stretch, there are many trout visible against the lightly colored silt bottom and some are rather large - over sixteen inches. The fish are educated but it makes for a good challenge.
