NJ Big Flat Brook @ Crigger Rd
Marker Description: Heavily wooded with limited access to the upper pools (at least from what I could find), this little area just east of the bridge offers several different pooled levels walled off by what I assume are beaver dams (you can see them from the sat photos). The plants growing in the water makes access very tricky since every step may land you in a deep hole. Very beautiful location and the water level was decent considering the surrounding lakes, rivers and brooks were all very low (10/8-10/10 2016)

AudioS: You take nice photographs. This spot looks fishy. I've haven't fished the Big Flat Brook much but I would like to check out this stretch. Bear Creek has a beaver dam section like this and I always thought I would catch a big trout in bigger water but I would up doing better in the more classic stream sections. Also like you said tought to wade beaver pond muck. Anyway, cool pics and thanks for the great post! D

I fly fished here on 10/9. Beautiful fall day, about 55-60 degrees with billowy clouds. I had no real idea if this portion of the Flat Brook was stocked, but thought I'd give it a whirl. Access to the upper ponds were difficult using hip waders, but I managed. Sadly my footing was so poor that I didn't stay long enough to really fish the pool. I made my way down to one of the lower pools knowing it likely didn't have any trout, but needed to move on as it was getting dark. Turns out it had plenty of sunfish who loved my flies.
