NJ Alexauken Creek, Lambertville
Marker Description: There is a beautiful pool underneath the Route 202 Bridge that has nice smallmouth bass and stocked trout in the spring and early summer. This pool almost always yields action, it gets fished out of trout, wish people would practice catch and release. Also a nice pool above the 29 bridge along the cement wall.

Parking: Next to railroad tracks off Route 29.

Here is a pic of the house that is about to fall into the Alexhauken Creek and another showing the rock shelf and filled in pool under Rte 206 - albeit not a great photo of the once beautiful deep pool.

Hurricane Irene has done a number on the beautiful pool underneath Rte 202. A huge wall of rocks was built up on the western bank and the deep pool has been filled in. The house on the eastern side of the shear cliff appears ready to slide into the Alexauken at any moment as a huge slide of dirt broke off from the storm. It is a real shame that the pool has been filled as I saw a good number of real big smallies this year again.

Fished today and thought the big pool was cleaned out then went to the tail end and saw a 20 inch smallmouth turn on my panther Martin only to have a 12 inch rainbow come up and snatch the lure and spook the lunker small. Had one other trout follow, didn't see the small again. Caught one other nice brown down by the 29 bridge and fell off the cement ledge and got soaked.
